Regular attendance is essential for your child’s progress and for the smooth running of our classes. Being part of a group means that each student plays an important role, and consistent participation helps both our teachers and fellow students.
Missing classes can affect not only choreography and performance preparation, but also the friendships, confidence, and teamwork we encourage in every age group.
We understand that students may occasionally be unable to attend class for various reasons.
Where possible, we offer makeup classes in a similar session.
While we will always do our best to accommodate, makeup classes may not always be available.
We know how easy it is for dance-wear, shoes, and personal items to get misplaced.
To avoid anyconfusion, please make sure to label all your child's belongings with their name.
We will make every effort to locate and return lost items; however, we kindly ask for your understanding that we cannot be held responsible for any items your child brings to class.
Please understand that we are unable to assume responsibility for students before or after their
scheduled classes, so it's essential for parents to ensure timely drop-off and pick-up.
For a few class times - mainly our little ones our fabulous DanceStep Assistant teachers are on hand
to take your child from the downstairs blue door to class and deliver them back to you. However you
must meet them at the blue door, our DanceSteppers are not responsible for taking your child across
the laneway. This is just something we do to help parents out who have other children/commitments
etc. It is never a given and only an offer of help when we can.
What ballet syllabus do you follow?
We follow the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet syllabus, a world-recognised program.
Students must attend a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week to be eligible for exams.
Junior exams are held in our studio in late July or early August.
Vocational exams are held at the RAD Headquarters in Darlinghurst.
Are concerts compulsory?
No, concerts are not compulsory — but the kids love them! They are the highlight of our year.
If my child does performance groups, do they have to participate in all eisteddfods and training?
Yes — commitment to all training and competitions is essential.
Students are selected based on their:
Work ethic – dedication and effort in class
Attendance – regular participation in required classes
Commitment – consistency in attending training sessions and rehearsals
We value reliability and dedication over natural talent alone, as teamwork and consistency are essential for a successful group. Students must be committed and dedicated.
